Arriving in Rome is the urban artistic poetry of Giuseppe Toscano in an exhibition entitled “Ri-Contaminazione” (Re-contamination). More than fifteen works the result of the artist’s latest experimentation will be on view in the Sala Egon Von Fürstenberg in Palazzo Valentini (Via IV Novembre, 119/a)
The inauguration will be Monday, May 28 at 6 pm and the exhibition will remain open to the public from May 29 to June 1, 2012.
Introducing the exhibition, which is sponsored by the Province of Rome, will be Dr. Sira Sebastianelli who has been following this artist's work for years. The event is curated by the CulturART cultural association in collaboration with the non-profit foundation Lucis, and Live Aid, a European non-profit cultural association.
The connecting thread in the artistic work of Giuseppe Toscano is a reflection on the contamination and bombardment of media messages – first and foremost advertising – that are useless and vacuous. For this artist, “re-contamination” occurs when the images take on a different meaning, lose what was their original communicative function and take on a new dimension that provides the user with a different interpretation, becoming works with a strong emotional impact created using a wide range of materials and techniques.
