20th Gavignano “Maccaruni” Festival

Everything is ready for the 20th Sagra dei Maccaruni pasta festival, to be held July 27-29 in the lovely town of Gavignano. Part of the festivities organized for all ages during the town's "pasta week", the main goal of the festival is to promote the tradition of the delicate, thin homemade pasta made by hand by the instructors and students of the town’s pasta school and shop.
On this occasion, the “maccaruni”, which have been officially certified a traditional product, will be prepared using a sauce and goat cheese, the recipe for which has been handed down from generation-to-generation to guarantee all the age-old goodness of this delectable, refined dish. The festival offers further motivation for celebrating together the mid-August holiday of Ferragosto and St. Rocco, patron saint of Gavignano.
It all begins on Friday, July 27 at 7 pm with the opening of the food stand and live music. On Saturday, July 28, also starting at 7 pm, will be the food stand with local folk music, while on Sunday, July 29, the stand will open at 6 pm, accompanied by a cook-off, followed by lots of music and food.
But that’s not all, because the public will have the opportunity to visit the local museum of farm culture and life in Piazza dei Caduti, where the festival will take place.
The same weekend, Gavignano will also be hosting the 1st RADUNO CAMPER CITTA’ DI GAVIGNANO camper rally. Program events include:
Friday, July 27 – arrival and registration; 7 pm, shuttle bus to Gavignano, dinner at the Festival with live music, return to camper site around 11 pm
Saturday, July 28 – 9 am, bus tour of neighboring towns, bag lunch; 5 pm, shuttle bus to Gavignano, tour of town, mass and blessing of camper owners; 7:30 pm, participants free to dine in town.
Sunday, July 29 – lunch at “Quelli della Notte”, farewell and departure
