Now in its 84th year, the Sagra delle Cerase (Cherry Festival) in Palombara Sabina offers each year an event that is one-of-a-kind.
During the festival, traditions of the past are brought to life once again – a world that has been forgotten but is still rich in appeal and values relevant for today.
The love and commitment to these traditions has made it possible to keep this festival alive for 84 years, each year attracting more and more visitors.
The festival takes place over four days.
Friday, June 8
5 pm – Piazzale Giovanni Paolo II – theater workshop for children organized by the “Noi due proposte teatrali” association
9 pm – Viale XXIV Maggio – dancing with music and entertainment from the 60s-70s-80s-90s offered by “Fragole e Limoni”. Opening the evening will be the young Roman singer, Frail, fresh from his appearance at the Sanremo Festival, who will present his new album, “Polline”
Saturday, June 9 – Viale XXIV Maggio
6:30 pm - "Miss Cerasara" beauty contest in which women and men of all ages will walk the runway in traditional local costumes, in the hope of winning the much-sought titles of Mister Cerasaro and Miss Cerasara
9 pm – music with Francesco Scarcelli in concert
Sunday, June 10 will see the festival in full-swing with the Palombara town band and the Palombara Sabina majorettes and the opening of the fair, exhibitions and guided tours
10 am – Parade of vintage Vespa scooters through the town’s main streets, starting from Viale Ungheria and terminating in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Taking part will be aficionados of this Italian classic
4:30 pm – traditional parade of unique theme floats completely covered with cherries, thistles and daisies
9 pm – music with the rock group Lateral Blast in concert
Monday, June 11 – Viale XXIV Maggio
9 pm – music with the group Control V, dedicated to the creators of the floats who, as they do every year, keep the old tradition of this festival alive
11:30 pm – drawing of the winning lottery ticket: FIRST PRIZE A "CHEVROLET SPARK"
23:45 pm – closing of the festival with a fireworks display by Pirotecnica Giuliani of Toffia
