The 17th C. building of the Aldobrandini stables, an out building of the villa by the same name, is located close to the Municipal Palace.
Refurbished by the celebrated architect Massimiliano Fuksas and finally opened in 2000, the Scuderie offer its audience a very varied selection of quality events: art exhibitions, musical festivals, poetry readings, etc.
The restoration has aimed for the most part to maintain the appearance of the ancient building, leaving the load bearing structures in full view such as the wooden roof trusses and the “poor” wall masonry; while at the same time it has been conceived as a multipurpose space, with teaching workshops, an auditorium and studio spaces for theatre and dance.
The Scuderie Aldobrandini are one of the locations of great artistic and cultural significance to have been selected to take part in the “ABC Art, Bueaty and Culture – Locations for living” project backed by the Province of Rome.
