Artist's steps- Cervara di Roma

Browse fullscreen [x]

From the hand and the chisel of youngsters from all over the world came the “Artist’s steps”, one of the access stairways to the town, which connects the Giovanni XXIII square below (where one can park) to the central town square.

The flight of steps was created in the Eighties by the students of Prof. Bianchi, the professor of Sculpture of the Arts Academy in Florence; it hosts a panoply of sculptures ranged along the path of the stairs and marked by poetry engraved in the rock.

Among the curious symbolic sculptures you’ll find doves, snakes, owls, four “prisons” and an Icarus.
