The main purpose of the Observatory is to disseminate knowledge of astronomy. It does this through guided tours with multimedia explanations which are enhanced through the observation of celestial bodies.

Activities, which are mainly of an educational nature, are aimed at students of all ages, from primary school to university. As well as dissemination, the Observatory is used for research purposes.
