Barberini Park is in the centre of Palestrina between Piazza della Liberazione and Via degli Arcioni.
There are five entrances to the park: Viale Pio XII and Via degli Arcioni to the south, Porta San Martino to the west, Via della Mola to the east, and the main entrance in Piazza della Liberazione.
The gardens are situated below what was once the majestic complex of the Fortuna Primigenia Temple. The temple was supported by a wall and enhanced with niches containing statues. Beneath, there were nine cisterns which supplied water to the fountains in the gardens and to the town below.
The garden is terraced on three levels: Via degli Arcioni, Via del Sole and the present-day "Giardino del Principe", or Prince’s Garden. Trees and shrubs grow in the park and the flower-beds are planted with rose-bushes.
The whole area of the park once belonged to the Barberini princes from whom it takes its name.
