There are few remaining traces of the 10th century medieval castle which belonged to the Colonna family, because it was completely destroyed in 1526 by the fury of the pontificial armies.
Until recently, the Baronial Palace housed the municipal offices, but today it holds the town library.
Two medieval towers remain from the original building, one East facing and round, the other a buttressed, quadrangle facing West.
The entrance, with a round, rusticated portal, passes beneath the palace.
