The imposing building was built around 1,000 and has been remodelled many times over the years with various stylistic adaptations from the different eras. The building holds the story of its construction, which proceded alongside the growth of the inhabited area.
In the internal garden, which can be reached through the original entrance, stands the Loggia del Banditore, next to a 16th century finely carved stone window. The present entrance holds a sandstone portal dedicated to Cardinal Pietro Aldobrandini, who died in 1621.
