Borghese Palace - Monte Compatri

Browse fullscreen [x]

The castle was constructed between 1582 and 1613 on the ruins of a 1423 castle built by the Colonna family.
Monte Compatri belonged to the Borghese family for over 200 years, during which timespan it enjoyed its finest moments and the palace welcomed poets, nobles and artists.
Today it holds the offices of the Municipality and its strategic position between the historical centre and the access routes into the town is a reminder of its determining influence on historical events.
