Borghese Palace - Morlupo

Browse fullscreen [x]

Building of the Borghese Palace in Morlupo dates to the early 17th century.
Situated at the junction between two important roads, to Rome and to Capena, the palace leans up against the hill behind, with an irregular floor plan. The corner views give it a severe appearance, due to the rigour of the building's composition and the compact nature of the divisions.
Some restorations were carried out in the 18th century, including the rebuilding of several areas on the ground floor to create an oven.
The palace housed the municipality offices at the end of the 18th century.
After a long period of complete abandonment, when the palace was already in ruins, it was bought by TV personality Pippo Baudo who completely rebuilt it with the intention of creating a TV studio inside.
Several years later, it became property of the Municipality.
The richly frescoed internal rooms are used for conventions, art and craft exhibitions, book presentations and conferences.
The terrace above the building provides a marvellous panoramic view of the countryside outside Morlupo.
