The Cathedral dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi is situated on the main square of Civitavecchia, just before taking Corso Marconi towards Tarquinia, and was built on the site of a small 1600 church.
The cathedral has elegant, solid structures that highlight a single technical jewel, a wide staircase that extends downwards from the main door in a fan shape along the façade. The upper floor is decorated by two large statues of St. Francis of Assisi and St. Anthony of Padua.
The pictures in the chapels are not of great value, except one in the middle chapel, to the right of the entrance, which is notable and represents the Nativity of Jesus attributed to the school of Domenico Zampieri, known as Domenichino.
