Browse fullscreen [x]

The first mention of the Church of Our Lady in Affile, built on Roman walls that are still visible today, dates to 1005, although its present shape is due to rebuilding in the 13
th
century, which the four stone arches supporting a wooden roof date to, and the addition of two aisles in the 16
th
century.
The building served as parish church, answering to the Bishop of Palestrina, even after the movement of the town to the western hill left it outside the city walls.
The church holds frescoes from the 16th and 17th centuries along with traces (two saints) of one from the 13th century.
