The travertine-stone facade of the Church of San Leone Magno in Carpineto Romano bears the papal crest (Leo XIII) and also has a raised porch.
The inside of the Church takes the form of a circular vault, and at its heights you can see the windows of the Pecci dwelling and that of the Parish. The central nave is adorned with Corinthian columns and pilasters. The altar is dominated by an extremely expressive marble Pietà, a work by the Polish artist Sosnowski: standing up is St. John the Baptist, looking broken hearted at the dead Jesus, lying in the arms of the Virgin Mary.
