The church of Sant'Antonio Abate was designed by Orazio Turriani and built by Sebastiano Fantoni.
In 1614 the convent and the church were enhanced by Sebastiano Fantoni who extended the library with more than 1000 volumes, further added to by the generous donations of the Colonna and Barberini families.
The church, which stands near the magnificent pagan temple dedicated to the goddess Fortuna, is well-loved by the people of Palestrina who are devoted to the Madonna del Carmine.
