The Church of St. Augustine in Carpineto Romano was already documented in the 13th century. It was originally dedicated to St. Anthony Abbot, patron saint of animals, and governed by an Anthonian prior. In the 14th century, it passed to the Hermits of St. Augustine who lived there and rededicated the church.
Inside there is a wooden trussed roof with triumphal arch, the chancel holds the altarpiece to St. Augustine made by Tito Troja who also frescoed the apse with the Triumph of the Order of St. Augustine and Pope Leo XIII surrounded by the Papal court. The Swiss organ in the chancel was a gift of the diocese of St. Gallen to the pope born in Carpineto Romano.
