The Church of St. Francis is outside the medieval borgo, in the square of the same name. According to tradition, it was founded by St. Francis while he was travelling to Gaeta.
The church holds a notable altarpiece of Our Lady of Loreto with St. Bartholomew, St. Joseph, St. James and St. Francis, by Andrea Sacchi (1599-1661) who was born in Nettuno and was one of the most prominent exponents of Roman Baroque. There is a 15th century fresco of St. Anthony Abbot in the right aisle. Other frescoes can be found in the sacresty.
The remains of the Roman buildings the church is built on can be seen through openings in the floor.
