The Church of St. Gregory the Great was built in 1537 on the site of a previous church which presumably dated back to Gothic times.
Between 1865 and 1867, the church was remodelled and the vault and two side aisles were added. The number of altars was reduced to five, including the main altar, and restoration work was carried out on the façade and the bell tower, hit by lightning.
Furthering modernizing took place on the interior between winter 1945 and autumn 1946.
