The church of St. Michael Archangel in Capena was built in 1908.
Its design follows the typical basilica floor plan, a nave and two aisles divided by columns. The roof is made of wooden supports. Originally, the church was not frescoed and the paintings by Giovanni Costantini and Giovanni Carosi, were added at the time of WWII. The frescoes on the bowl of the apse show the coronation of the Virgin surrounded by angels with the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove above her. On the apse, the saints represented are St. Michael Archangel (in the centre), with St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Luke the Evangelist, St. Mark the Evangelist, St. Porphyry of Gaza and St. Vincent Ferrer. The medieval Rocca of Capena can be seen in the background along with the houses of the commissioners, while the countryside and Mount Soratte are further back. 12 medals above the columns along the central nave represent the 12 apostles.
The most important work in the church is the Triptych of the Saviour by Antonio da Viterbo which dates to 1452.
To the left of the church, there is a rectory and a 28m bell tower, with a clock and three bells. The medium and small bell are from 1700, while the big bell was recast when the church was consecrated.
