The Church of St. Michael Archangel in Velletri is mentioned in a 1065 document, although tradition holds that it is older.
Historians believe that the church was built on the ruins of a Temple dedicated to Mars.
The church, however, does not have its original aspect, because it has been rebuilt many times: the last time was in 1884 by Don Spiridione Bertollini following a design by Pacifico Di Tucci.
It holds a painting by Agostino Carracci of St. Anne, donated to the church in 1626 by the notary Zeffiro Velli.
The main altar holds a Crucifixion by Filippo Zucchetti from 1703.
