On St. Peter's Hill rises a church dedicated to the same saint, mentioned by Pope Gregory the Great in the 6th century as the site of a monastic community.
It is the oldest church in Affile and one of the first places of Christian worship in the Aniene Valley, dating back to Early Christian times.
It has been remodelled and rebuilt during this time, the last intervention dating to the 15th century.
It contains a fresco of the Crucifixion with St. Benedict and a Bishop, which is somewhat detiorated.
On the north, windowless, wall, there are frescoes of 'the Nativity of Jesus', 'The Deposition of the Cross', 'Madonna with Child and angels' and 'First miracle by St. Benedict in Affile' which is dated by the 1473 inscription.
The fresco of the Benedictine miracle includes the town of Affile at the time in the background.
