The Church of St. Peter, in the square of the same name, is built on the site of the central podium of the temple of the ancient acropolis.
The remains of the temple's side porches were used to build the Gothic bell tower (about 15m high), whose upper part was completely restored in the 19th Century.
Originally built in the 13th Century, the church has been restored various times.
Three frescoes were discovered in recent centuries; a 13th Century Gothic Madonna and Child, a 15th Century St. Sebastian and a 16th Century Madonna and Child with St. Stephen, St. Lawrence and St. Vitalian.
The painting to the left of the chancel shows the Primacy of St. Peter and dates to the 16th Century.
