In the vicinity of Cerreto Laziale, in the Fonte Farolfa and Arnale districts there are visible remains of polygonal walls dating back to the Roman Republican Age. There are also a few cement cisterns, built around the same time, that lie very close to these walls.
These finds, along with numerous ceramic fragments and a few graves, some of which with bones of gigantic proportions, seem to provide evidence of the existence of earlier settlements, in all likelihood linked to the morphological lay out of the area, the vicinity of Suffenas (today’s Ciciliano) and the important route inland represented by the Giovanzano valley.
