Considered the climax of events in the week running up to Easter, over the course of the millennia Good Friday has been commemorated by the Catholic Church and other Christian churches.
An event many people won’t forego and an opportunity to remember the sacrifice Jesus made, and to ensure the run-up to Easter is exciting and unforgettable.
A sequence of dramatic images depicting the last hours of Jesus’ life, from the betrayal of Judas followed by his arrest at night by the soldiers and the threefold denial of his first disciple Peter, down to the Via Crucis towards the hill of Golgotha or Calvario, the place of execution; many municipalities in the Province of Rome will be representing the events theatrically once again to mark Easter 2012.
From the centenary procession of Valmontone to the characteristic procession in Segni and the Byzantine ritual which will be held in Grottaferrata, many Holy events will be held to accompany the faithful towards the resurrection of Jesus.
To follow is the complete list of all the processions.
