Palazzo Valentini

Wednesday, June 20 at 8:30 pm in the courtyard of Palazzo Valentini (offices of the Province of Rome) a charity fashion show will take place to aid the earthquake victims in Emilia Romagna. Organized on the specific request of Province of Rome President Zingaretti, the event will offer the opportunity to collect funds using a large, 6½ foot-high piggybank that will be placed at the entrance to the Palazzo. A one-of-a-kind object – handmade by Adele Minestrini and donated to the provincial government – that will be used to collect donations from those attending the fashion show to be sent to many of those Italians who, because of the earthquake, have lost their homes and jobs.

Silvana Augero, responsible for the stage direction and fashion coordination, together with Mara Parmigiani, journalist and sector expert, will be the evening's MCs. The event will be held outdoors in the courtyard of Palazzo Valentini and will combine film and fashion, offering not only the fashion show, but also a selection of classics of the silver screen.

Through film and haute couture, the evening will trace the story of Italy over the last sixty years. Decades of economic and social expansion that saw in the limelight a continuous series of films by Fellini, Rossellini and Luigi Magni with such stars as Giulietta Masina, Anita Ekberg, Marcello Mastroianni, Alberto Sordi, Monica Vitti, Nino Manfredi, Elena Sofia Ricci, Claudia Cardinale, Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Sofia Loren and Anna Magnani. All presented through a collection of 30 outfits representing the best in Italian high fashion.

In the first part of the evening, creations by Fontana, Cappucci, Valentino, Galitzine, Antonelli, Egon Furstemberg, Balestra, Ferrè, Versace and Camillo Bona will be the stars on the runway and the big screen. Capucci and Fontana not only dressed actress Silvana Pampanini, but also leading members of Italian high society.

The second part of the evening will be dedicated to “contemporary designers” with the work of young up-and-coming designers, including Eleonora Altamore, Sabrina Attiani, Ilaria Pascali, Carmelo Salvatore Scionti (Alta Sartoria Italiana), Verusca Neroni and Camillo Bona.
