The dual role of Museum and Research Centre gives a clear idea of the unique nature of this institution, housed in the Villa de Pisa and owned by the council. Here in the 1990s, the Friends of the Olevano Museum organisation both managed the collection it owns as well as organising an intensive calendar of activities of both research and exhibitions. the aim was to illustrate the role this municipality of Lazio has played since the end of the 18th century as a meeting place for foreign artists and as a location to make comparisons between the different pictorial expressions of "romantic landscape."
In addition to international exhibitions and conferences, the museum houses the collection of 19th century etchings by J. A. Koch, drawings and lithographs by F. Salathè, A. Hallman, K. Lindemann-Frommel, F. Drebere, F. G. Arndt, all 19th century artists. There are also works from the 1920s and 1930s by W. Strich-Chapell and F. H. Becker, members of the Neue Sachlichkeitmovement, and H. Hindorf, to whom a room is dedicated with works depicting the landscape and local people produced during his stay in Olevano. Of considerable interest is the collection of paintings, drawings and watercolours from the 1960s to the present day.
The museum is located in a park, with access for people with diasbilities up to the first floor of the villa.
