Browse fullscreen [x]

The museum, founded in 1992 by the “Sabate” Cultural Association and subsequently dedicated to the memory of its founder who died in 1996, was set up in order document the various aspects and features of the cultural and historic/traditional identity of Anguillara through the display of a variety of artefacts.

The collection has mainly been put together thanks to donations by local citizens who have offered mainly objects of daily use all from the Bracciano lake area, dating back essentially to the 19th C. and the first decades of the 20th C. The exhibits include many work tools used in sheep-farming, lake fishing, agriculture and local crafts.

There are for example machines and tools used by lumberjacks, stonemasons, carpenters, blacksmiths, bakers and cobblers. Room has also been found for items of daily use: particularly worthy of note being the reconstruction of a period kitchen and the small collection of antique toys, typical of the Anguillara area.

The items connected to the towns historic Confraternities are also of particular interest, and include the costumes and objects of worship used in the local traditional religious processions.
