The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces in Camerata Nuova is a small 17th century church, a place of pilgrimage on Easter Monday and an obligatory stop on the nature trails that lead towards the peaks of Camerata Vecchia and the Camposecco plain.
The church is surrounded by woods and is situated far from the old town which was destroyed by fire in 1859. The small sanctuary was the only refuge for the evacuated, for some time. There is a breathtaking view around the sanctuary.
There are two traditions linked to Our Lady of Graces: one is to light candles on the evening of the feast day and to chorally shout 'Grazia!', the other is for 'spinsters' (very young ones!) to hold a prayer vigil in the sanctuary to ask for grace for another person.
