Theatrical mask and puppet theatre museum- Mentana

Browse fullscreen [x]

The Theatrical Mask and Puppet theatre museum was first opened in 1997 in a room of the Borghese Palace.
The works inside have been collected by Giancarlo Santelli, an expert on the subject and on folk traditions. Santelli is also a puppet maker and specialises in performances of classical texts.

The Museum, the only one of its kind in Italy, is based around a collection of a hundred or so masks made out of natural and synthetic materials and often used for the most important performances of Greek and Roman theatre as well as Commedia dell’Arte.

The Museum can be visited in groups but only by appointment.
