The “Villa Gregoriana” park, at the foot of the acropolis, dominated by two temples dating back to the 3rd – 2nd C. b.c., was first set up in 1834 by Pope Gregorius XVI, following the deviation of the river Aniene, which led to current arrangement of the waters and the creation of a grand waterfall which magically pours out of an artificial tunnel.
The presence of archaeological remains from various periods, panoramic views, exceptional natural features: water, rocky outcrops, caves, along with the beauty of luxurious flora have meant that this has become a park of great environmental, historic and artistic value.
