Dear readers ofRoma&più, newcomers to hiking or just nature lovers, for this coming mid-May Sunday we want to tell you about an interesting hike entitled"Benessere e relax" (Wellness and Relaxation). The date isSunday, May 20 at 9:45 amwith departure from Via dei Corsi inRocca di Papa, for a nature hikeon the slopes of the Faete Mountains, along the “Grotticelle” path. At the end of the hike, there will be the possibility of picnicking together and sampling farm products. The itinerary of significant natural interest on the southern slopes of the Faete Mountains will also include a visit to an ancient pre-Roman site dug into the tuff. The site is known as the "Grotticelle" and was probably two hypogean tombs dating from 1600 BC but perhaps even older, the only of their kind in the Albani hills. The initiative, “Arte&Natura in campo” (Art & Nature in the field) consists of a series of eight Sunday hikes, the last of which is the one this coming Sunday, where local experts accompany participants on 3-hour itineraries in discovery of geological, nature and historic-archeological sites of particular environmental significance in the Province of Rome. All the cultural events in this initiative share the theme of "water" in a range of contexts, including architecture, art, history and in natural settings such as lakes, ponds and hollows created by the course of above-ground streams. The hikes are promoted by the Associazione Ecologica Ambientale LATIUM VOLCANO, a non-profit organization which has been involved for years in the conservation of the local area. Members may participate in the following ways: Minimum contribution: €10 per participant; 50% discount for those aged 65+ and 12-18; free for the handicapped and children under 12. Special rates: white card €20 (3 events); yellow card €40 (5 events); green card €55 (7 events).
