"Wonderbus" tours of Roman hilltop towns

A new bus tour service, called Wonderbus, has started up running from Rome’s Termini station and from piazza Marconi in Frascati to offer tourists the chance to discover the hilltop towns around Rome (known in Italian as the Castelli Romani). The tours start from March 23, 2011 andrun every Wednesday afternoon and for the day on Saturdays, providing he opportunity to learn more about the natural, historical and gastronomic wonders in the Province of Rome. The tours will be going to Frascati, the Wine Museum in Monte Porzio Catone, the nymphaea monuments at Lake Albano and beautiful towns such as Rocca di Papa and Nemi and many more besides. The service is run by the Lanuvium Viaggi Tour Operator, with tour guides being supplied by the Diakronica Association.
There are two distinct tours:
Wednesday afternoons are the chance to go on a gastronomic tour entitled "Taste and emotions", visiting the cities of Grottaferrata (with a visit to the centruries old Abbey of St. Nilus), Castel Gandolfo and Rocca di Papa. The full day tour on Saturdays is entitled “Old towns and ancient legends" and will be visiting Monteporzio Catone, Frascati, the nymphaea monuments in Domiziano’s Villa close to Lake Albano (usually closed to the public), Nemi and Lanuvio.
We hope this Wonderbus soon becomes established as a wonderful impetus for tourism in the Roman hilltop towns.

 
Calendar:
Every Wednesday and Saturday, from March 23, 2011 plus the following holidays: April 25, May 1, June 2 and June 19 (on the occasion of the flower petal art displays in Genzano di Roma). The Wonderbus will not be running on December 25 and 26, and January 1.
Price:  1) Roman hilltop towns / Castelli Romani: “Taste and emotions“ (every Wednesday from 14.00 to 19.30, €45 leaving from Rome; €40 leaving from Frascati) - 2) “Old towns and ancient legends" (every Saturday from 09.00 to 18.30, €85 leaving from Rome; €80 leaving from Frascati). **Concessions 4-12 years old / free for 0-4 year olds. The cost includes the services of a guide (in Italian and English), the return coach trip, tastings or lunch, depending on the programme. The ticket price does not include eventual admission to museums and monuments.
